Defending champion Neeraj Chopra will lead a 28-member Indian athletics team at the Paris Olympics, starting July 26. The team comprises 17 men and 11 women athletes, including Asian Games champions Avinash Sable and Tejinderpal Singh Toor, and hurdler Jyoti Yaraji.

26-year-old Tokyo Games gold medallist and world champion in javelin throw Neeraj Chopra is skipping the last Diamond League event to prepare for the Olympics.
The men's 4x400m relay team, comprising Muhammed Anas, Mohammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh, will also draw attention after their impressive performance against the USA team at the last World Championships.
The track and field events will be held at the Stade de France from August 1 to 11. This Olympics will feature a new marathon race walk mixed relay event, while the men's 50km race walk has been dropped.
The men's team includes Avinash Sable (3,000m steeplechase), Neeraj Chopra, Kishore Kumar Jena (javelin throw), Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), Praveen Chitravel, Abdulla Abubakar (triple jump), Akshdeep Singh, Vikas Singh, Paramjeet Singh Bisht (20km race walk), Muhammed Anas, Muhammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob, Santosh Tamilarasan, Rajesh Ramesh (4x400m relay), Mizo Chacko Kurien (4x400m relay), Suraj Panwar (race walk mixed marathon) and Sarvesh Anil Kushare (high jump).
The women's team includes Kiran Pahal (400m), Parul Chaudhary (3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m), Jyothi Yaraji (100m hurdles), Annu Rani (javelin throw), Abha Khatua (shot put), Jyotika Sri Dandi, Subha Venkatesan, Vithya Ramaraj, Poovamma MR (4x400m relay), Prachi (4x400m) and Priyanka Goswami (20km race walk/race walk mixed marathon).
