After the meeting of the newly elected Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, the Bengal Chief Minister told reporters on Saturday (June 8, 2024) that the TMC will remain in a "wait and watch" position.
Mamata Banerjee, popularly known as 'didi' in Bengal, said that she would be happy if the "weak and unstable" National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by the BJP is voted out of power.
According to the TMC chief, "The BJP is forming the government in an undemocratic and illegal way. Wait for some time. Ultimately, 'India' will form the government in the country in the coming days."
During a closed-door meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told TMC leaders and MPs, "The NDA government will not be able to complete its term," news agency PTI reported quoting sources.
The West Bengal Chief Minister claimed that the mandate is against PM Narendra Modi, so 'he should have resigned this time and someone else should have taken over as the Prime Minister of the country.'
When asked about NDA allies JDU and Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "They are also our friends. Who said they are not with us?"
