Sunrisers' loss to KKR in the 2024 IPL final led to a viral video of Kavya Maran crying, generating widespread interest.

Kavya Maran, the owner of the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, has recently captured the internet's attention. Following Sunrisers' loss to KKR in the 2024 IPL final, a video of her crying went viral, sparking widespread interest.

Kavya, who comes from a prominent business family in Tamil Nadu, has garnered significant attention since the team's defeat. Her father, Kalanithi Maran, owns the Sun Group, a major media conglomerate with over 33 regional channels. Kalanithi Maran's net worth is estimated to be around $2.3 billion.

The Maran family hails from Chennai. Kavya completed her undergraduate studies at Stella Maris College in Chennai before pursuing an MBA in England at Warwick Business School. After earning her degree, she joined her father's business empire.

In 2018, Kalanithi Maran appointed Kavya as the CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Besides managing SRH, Kavya also oversees other ventures within the Sun Group.

Throughout the IPL season, Kavya has been a visible and supportive presence for her team, often seen cheering from the dressing room and the stands. Her reactions have been closely followed by the cameras.

Kavya is also the owner of another cricket team, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, which competes in South Africa's SA20 tournament. The team has achieved notable success, winning the championship twice since the league's inception in 2022.

Kavya Maran's net worth is reported to be around Rs 400 crore. Since taking over the Sunrisers in 2018, the team has experienced a mix of successes and challenges. They won the IPL championship in 2016 and were runners-up in 2018. However, their performance dipped in subsequent seasons, culminating in a particularly poor showing in 2021 where they won only three out of 14 matches, finishing at the bottom of the points table. Ahead of the 2024 season, Kavya made several strategic changes, which revitalized the team and propelled them to the finals.
