Human Trafficking:
In Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya district, police have rescued 99 children suspected of being victims of human trafficking. Some of these children had already been sent to Saharanpur earlier. While the police are questioning five clerics in connection with the case, the children themselves have revealed disturbing details.
According to the children, they were forced to work as laborers under the guise of receiving education in madrasas and were subjected to physical abuse. Many tearful children expressed that those studying in madrasas never fulfill their dreams of becoming doctors.
Despite claims from one of the arrested clerics that the children were being taken to Saharanpur for religious education, the children have shared their own harrowing experiences with the police. A 14-year-old stated they didn't want to attend madrasas because they only focus on religion. Conversely, another child expressed their aspiration to become a doctor, questioning how one could achieve that while confined to a madrasa.
The Child Protection Commission has raised a question.
stating that a majority of the rescued children attend primary schools. In light of this, they question why these children are being sent to madrasas, which is a significant concern. On Saturday, Dr. Shuchita Chaturvedi, a member of the State Child Protection Commission, met with the children. During the meeting, the children revealed that Shabe Noor, residing in the village of Karhara in Bihar's Araria district, is involved in sending them to various madrasas. The children refer to Shabe Noor as 'Maamu.' They mentioned that apart from Saharanpur, Shabe Noor also sends children to madrasas in Mumbai, Delhi, Aurangabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Azamgarh, for which he receives a substantial amount.
